I eat, move, and exercise each day. How do I decide what to do and what to eat? I decide what to eat by using my personal preferences. Also 30% of my choices come from genes and 70% of my choices come from my lifestyle. But I do not always have the food I prefer so I go down my personal preferences list in my head. Once I find the food I feel like eating that I can find I might add strawberries to it and then I will eat it for breakfast. I enjoy frozen blueberries so I might have some for a mid-night snack. I pick these foods because of my personal preferences. I have learned eating healthy fruit when I can my antioxidants will be high. I know activity will keep me healthy so I enjoy outside activity when I can do it with friends and family. My diet and activity affect my health by how long I will live healthy and protected from diseases and cancers.

Blue zones are places where people live the longest healthy life. Blue zones all have in common are they have people who are all very active and eat tons of fruits, vegetables, and other very healthy foods. In Costa Rica people eat lots of fruits and vegetable like popia. They also make tortias with lots of calcium that keeps bones strong and healthy. People in Sardinia drink wine that has paridfenals. In Okinawa They eat tofu, fish, and fruits. Retirement does not exist in these countries because they can still work even if they are 100 years old. An active lifestyle can protect you from some diseases and sicknesses. Also it will keep them fit. Learning about blue zones can affect my decisions of what to do and what to eat. Learning about them can give you some tips how to stay healthy and fit all of your life. Also it can give you a goal to be like someone who lives in a blue zone. The people who live in blue zones know what food is good for you, how to make foods or drinks a certain way that is good for you, and what things are in foods that are good for you.

Free radicals are two molecular cells that electronic bonds broke. They get separated because they have a weak bond. Then they have unpaired electrons that turn the molecular cell into unstable molecules or free radicals. Why they separate is because of pollution, cigarette smoke, stress, lack of exercise, lack of sleep, and much more ways why the paired electrons separate or get a weak bond. A free radical is alone so it attacks other healthy cells for a partner but it only makes things worse. It separates the healthy cell and they become free radicals and they attack other healthy cells and they become free radicals and it goes on and on. Oxidative stress is when a lot of healthy cells are free radicals. Oxidative stress causes premature aging, leg swelling, cancer susceptibility and other effects. Oxidation is when your healthy cells are turning into free radicals. Oxidation happens so quick it is like when an apple is turning brown because it is exposed to the air.

“My Pyramid” is a chart that guides you and tells you how much food you need to eat from each food group each day. I do not eat the recommended amount of food from each food group because I usually eat too much of one food group and not of enough of a different food group. I need to eat more foods in the dairy food group because From time to time I eat no dairy foods in a day. When this happens it probably means there was no milk in my house or it means I had oatmeal for breakfast. I need to eat tons of more vegetables because I have gone weeks without eating vegetables. I eat too many grains sometimes so I need to start eating less cereal because I have too much cereal almost every day. Fruits and meats I have the right amount every day but on weekends I might not have enough fruits. So I need to start eating vegetables and a little bit more dairy. Also I need to eat less cereal every day.

You get your personal preferences by what you were fed when you were little and the foods you grew up around. Your family and culture can also affect what your choices of food are. Your family feed you the foods they were fed when they were little. Your culture comes from where you live or what your parent’s culture was like. So in all you get your personal preferences from your parents and where you live. Meal planning is when you plan your meal ahead of time. Meal planning gives you more time to get your meal ready. Also you will have time to check the My Pyramid and the Dietary Guidelines. You will also have time to make sure your meal is healthy, clean so anything bad on it will wash away, and enough food from each food group.

Being physically active can keep you happy and healthy. Being active could keep you healthy for a long time because you would be fit to do hard jobs that older people do not do when you are older. You would be safe from diseases, cancers, and sicknesses if you were active constantly. There are tons of activities that help you burn calories. Some make you run, so those activities burn lots of calories. Other activities, like walking only burn a few calories. For example if you are taking a walk you will burn fewer calories than if you are running a race. You burn fewer calories when you walk because your body is working harder when you run than when you walk.

Watching videos on YouTube and playing video games is a way to relax. Your mind might be working, but your body is not working. So you are not burning those calories you have been consuming all day long. Do you know what body image is? Well some might say it is the image of your body, but I say it is what you feel about what your body looks like. When you relax by being on electronics too much you might start disliking your body image. So you like to like body image. So then you should start exercising until you start liking your body image. You should always keep a daily exercising plan then you will always like your body image. I have learned eating a healthy breakfast will keep my grades high. So I try to have a healthy breakfast every day. I have also learned having plenty of antioxidants will protect me from free radicals. Now I try to eat frozen blue berries for a snack at night so I can have plenty of antioxidants. The last thing I learned is having plenty of exercise and outside activity I will always enjoy my body image. I have had lots of exercise and outside activity since these past few days.
